Name
The proper spelling of my name is Andrzej Wąsowski and it reads [And-jey Vonsovsky]. The second letter of my family name is an “a” with a comma underneath — often called ogonek. If Polish-specific diacritics are not available we would normally simplify “ą” to plain “a”, although this slightly changes my name (Wasowski is an existing and different name in Polish). To typeset “ą” in LaTeX use \k{a} for the second letter:
Andrzej W\k{a}sowski
You will need to change the font encoding to one containing Polish
characters: include \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} in the preamble. Alternatively,
type “ą” directly in Unicode source and load
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}. If nothing works, fall back to a plain “a”.
My first name is the Polish for English Andrew, German Andreas, and Danish Anders. Some non-Polish speakers pronounce it [Andriey], which sounds slightly Russian to me, but I can live with that.
